Northern School of Music is a leading music school in Kolkata for Violin classes, thereby enabling the students to learn violin in Dumdum Station area. Our Violin teachers use the world famous Suzuki method. Students learn Western Classical Music on violin along with other musical genres which includes, but is not limited to, Indian Classical Violin.
Learning Western Classical Music is about learning art and culture. If we travel back in time we would get to know different periods of history where violin was used. Learning violin and Western Classical Music helps the student to learn structure and innovation with learning history and culture.
Along with learning Violin, Northern School of Music has structured courses which also focuses on Composition and Music Arranging, Improvisation, Aural Tests, Sight Reading and Scales and Technical Study. Theory of Music is taught with practical lessons to help the students to understand violin better. A wide variety of different musical genres are taught to the students on violin class, which includes Bollywood songs in staff notation.
Regular concerts and competitions are held in which the students participate. Our Violin teachers teach to play in an ensemble and orchestra, as a part of training for the concerts. The concept of 1st violin and 2nd violin are taught with individual learning experience. Violin students, generally, practice and perform with a pianist. Students learning Indian Classical Music on the Violin practices and performs with Tabla.
International examination is available from Trinity College London (TCL), London College of Music (LCM) and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK (ABRSM). International Certification is not compulsory at NSM. Playing good music is the primary focus.
Students, who wants to skip the examination part, are taught different genres of contemporary music, like Bollywood songs in staff notation on the violin. After reaching an intermediate level, the students are taught Fusion Music, so that they can be complete performers in their carrier.
